We kicked off next week’s Homecoming week a bit early and had our friend Kelsie Boyer visit to teach our Mavericks tumbling and gymnastics basics! She even taught them a cheer routine to our school song! How awesome!?!

A number of our 3rd-6th graders had their first art session this past Tuesday afternoon in Mavericks Create. Using Sculpey clay, students let their imaginations guide their clever work. Once this clay is baked, our artists will be able to paint their creations. Nice job, Mavs!

Dear CCE Families - We are off to a great start at CCE this fall! We have enjoyed working with all of our Little Mavs in grades PK-6th, and welcome our new and former students into our Maverick family!
We want to update you on a new policy that will go into effect after the Clay County Fair is over regarding school attendance.
Per the State of Iowa's mandate, we will now be counting any absence (illness or other reason) as an absence, and any arrival between 8:35-8:55 as a tardy. There is no longer an excused or unexcused absence.
Then, at each trimester's end, our Attendance Team will call any family with a child who has missed 10% or more of the days in that grading period to problem-solve attendance issues and determine ways to improve attendance for the child.
Our goal is to provide support to families and find solutions together to optimize student learning. We do understand that some illnesses and other situations could arise that may cause short term absences to be greater than usual.
Val will have a copy of the new policy in the office, and you can call to request a paper copy if you wish to have one. Our tech department will upload the new policy into the online handbook in the near future as well.

Our K-1 Mavericks had the opportunity to study sunflowers today in Talent Development. These scientists-in-training used tools such as magnifying glasses, tweezers, and microscopes. Stay tuned as we find ways to utilize the hundreds of seeds we harvested. Such fun!!!
