PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is a school-wide system for creating behavior change in schools by emphasizing positive behavior expectations and outcomes for all students, consistency in responding to discipline concerns, and a data driven problem solving model to develop interventions for school wide concerns and interventions when students need more support. With the implementation of PBIS, instructional time is more effectively used for teaching, the overall school environment is calm and conducive to learning and there are fewer behavior issues.
We are starting our 3rd year of Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a research-based framework for teaching and supporting positive behaviors for all students. The school wide approach to discipline focuses on building a safe and positive environment in which all students can learn. The benefits of implementing PBiS is fewer behavior issues, more instructional time, and better attendance.
